Ministerial Search Process With ABC/IN-KY For Non-ABC Ministerial Leaders

If you are not an American Baptist recognized minister but would like to know more about ministry possibilities with an American Baptist Church in the Indiana and Kentucky region we invite you to enter our Ordination and Recognition process.

Privilege of Call is a process of ordination recognition by American Baptist Churches of Indiana and Kentucky, for persons who have been ordained in another denomination.

To initiate the Ordination and Recognition process, you may contact the Rev. Dan Barringer or Becky Septoski. You will then be sent a packet of information to complete before you are eligible for an interview with the Committee on Ordination, Recognition and Ministerial Standing (CORMS).

The following documents and criteria are required as a prerequisite to the meeting with CORMS:

  • Completed Application for Ordination and Recognition for American Baptist Churches
  • Completion of The American Baptist Polity Course
  • (Must precede scheduling CORMS interview)
  • Completion of Clergy Misconduct Prevention Training
  • (Must precede scheduling CORMS interview)
  • Photocopy of candidate’s ordination certificate, including address of original ordaining body.
  • Photocopy of candidate’s seminary diploma.
  • Copy of signed The Covenant and Code of Ethics for ABC ministers.
  • Copy of signed Sexual Misconduct – Domestic Violence Disclosure Form
  • Copy of ABC-IN/KY Placement Information Questionnaire
  • Seven (7) copies of the candidate’s Statement of Faith and Practice
  • Three (3) references from lay persons familiar with your ministry

All of the above material must be provided to CORMS at least one calendar month prior to the date of the CORMS interview. CORMS meets four times per calendar year.
